I couldn’t sleep the night before.  The last time I looked at my clock, it was after 1:30am.  I had to be up at 4:30am. I had a 6:00am appointment.   I was depressed,  emotionally and physically.  I was anxious, bothered by daily routine, annoyed by current events and overall disappointed in my appearance. And to make matters worse, I was gaining weight quickly and couldn’t fit many of my clothes.

For weeks, I had been struggling with individual or consecutive days of emotional downturns.  These downturns were influenced by overworking, current events, and the stresses associated upcoming holiday season.  I started adding sunshine into my days in the form of heavy whipping cream and super scoops of brown sugar dumped into my coffee, multiple servings of potato chips layered in french onion dip, and meals made exclusively of chocolate chip cookies.

As I scrolled through my social media account, I found myself researching the personal training account of Synergy Exercise.  Founder and trainer of Synergy Exercise, Larry Jackson has successful helped a couple of my friends collectively lose hundreds of pounds.  I decided immediately to email him. As depressed as I was, I was aware that I needed some accountability for my health habits, education about how to live a healthier life, and a community.   He replied within a few minutes later and we scheduled a meeting for 6:00am – the next morning. I couldn’t sleep the night before. I wasn’t sure that I was making the right choice. I didn’t have the energy. I was negatively rather than positively motivated. I wasn’t sure that it was the right time for a lifestyle change and I had a meeting first thing in the morning.
